Loving this thread :D
Here are a few pictures of my sociable Scully and one of her with her elusive tank-mate Mulder. "He" is rather camera shy and likes to lurk in dark corners, I will post another picture of him if I ever get a good one.

It's abundantly clear Scully knows she's attractive, and Mulder is too busy wondering whether the big clicky-whirry box that gets put up against their home is a UFO to pose.

( I don't think sunflower seeds are suitable snackfood for Axolotls, unfortunately. )

Finally got a few pictures of the elusive Mulder ... only because it was tank cleaning time (and I thought Scully was dead or unwell - she's fine, false alarm... or hysterical owner) :D
I think they are both still a bit on the thin side, but I've only had them for a week. They seem to be eating well enough so will hopefully fatten up soon :p

Phew, I'm glad she's okay! Why did you think something was wrong?

And looking at those, the only thing I can think? "See, Scully, didn't I tell you? DIDN'T I? We've been abducted by a giant alien!" (He's a handsome thing!)

She was just floating mid-tank. Didn't flinch when I went to say good morning, didn't flinch when I moved the plant next to her, didn't flinch when I poked her, barely moved when I netted her, then suddenly came to life when I moved her into tub and has been perfectly normal since. Back in big tank now, ate her breakfast, meandering around and being nosey as usual. I think she might have been really fast asleep :D

Me tooo :) texas is just plain adorable.
I hated wild type at first because the pictures i had seen were so ugly of them but the breeder insisted that she had beautiful wild type and she was so right!

Hi there, I'm new here, just brought my first two Axies home a couple of days ago!

Anyway, came home from work today, and found my golden albino, Drakon, doing this:

And then he did THIS, LOL

I apologize for the fuzzy shots, had to zoom in a bit with my iPhone, so of course it made the pics all "snowy"!

I had just fed Pablo his 6 big earthworms, gone in 2 min by the way :-\ .... But he was half sitting on his feed bowl (looking for more) and he had this big gut hanging over the edge. By the time in got my phone he had moved. But it was the classic aussie beer (worm) gut!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
