I introduced my two axolotl today. It was rather comical so I made a comic out of it. Bluebell is the GFP and the Doctor (yup, named after Doctor Who) is the Golden. He's quite a bit smaller, but I'll be keeping a close eye to make sure it all goes okay. There are lots of places to hide and both are hand fed. So far there has been no sign of aggression...just curiosity.

Heehee. I'm glad you got a laugh. It was cute to watch the two of them. Bluebell was just so curious and crawling all over him and trying to get his attention (probably seeing if he was something that could be eaten) and the Doctor was completely frozen (terrified?).

When I first introduced by sub-adults, I was a little worried that the leucistic would be aggressive to the melanoid. The leucistic is slightly bigger and more, um, energetic. When I first put them together, I was totally shocked. The melanoid ALWAYS wanted to be right next to the leucistic. Right next to her. But the leucistic seemed terrified by the melanoid and would dart away as soon as the melanoid invaded her space. Now, they seem better than before. The melanoid still seems "needy" (haha) and the leucistic still wants her space (?). Luckily, I've never seen any aggression between the two of them.

Goes to show what us humans know!! Right now the two are ignoring each other.

Thanks guys! Heehee. The Doctor has started to actually move around in the tank now and so far all limbs on both axies are accounted for. Interestingly enough the tiny Doctor has taken over the larger Bluebell's favourite hiding spot and Bluebell has accepted this and now just hangs out in the glass jar.
