The magic lettuce trick

My neighbor(she's from asia) was over looking at the larvae tank today and told me about some crazy think she did in college with lettuce...

you take a big piece of iceberg lettuce and put in a pot, boil it, and then put it in a glass jar and let it sit for 3-4 days, it has to be hot, like 90 degrees. THe whole thing turns red and you then harvest the things that are growing and swiming in it and feed them to whatever you have, in her case, guppies.

I told her she must have had some to start with, but she says it was just lettuce.

This just sounds crazy, anyone hear of anything like this?

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
