The most delicate Tylototriton species

Tylototriton is always my favourite genus since I was a little kid. In the past years, I am lucky enough to obtain 6 species from this genus and in my experience, T. wenxianensis is the most delicate species. Any inputs on this?

Hi Angus. Is this one wenxianensis?:

If so, I'll ask a Japanese friend who keeps it and several others if he has anything to input

All I can add is that newts labeled "T. wenxianensis" or "T. asperrimus" I've seen in pet shops were in terrible condition, with some dead and others close to death. In fact, I've never seen a healthy one being sold. Also, they're never around for long. They either sell out quickly or die within days. I've never kept any myself though.

Glad to hear of your interest in Tylototriton. I am a late-bloomer, having only started keeping them in recent months. Now up to four species and holding steady

Hi! Tim.

It is hard to tell species on this picture and this specimen. I think I need to see the head shape on different angle, do you have more pictures?
I think I know why you wonder what is it. it is because it lacks of the point edges which the wenxianensis usually has on it's back head, but the body length seems too long for asperrimus, right?
In my opinion,I think it is wenxianensis. It is because I know the dealer who sell the wenxianensis shipment to Japan and I know if it is asperrimus, he will charge lot more money for it and the shop in Japan will put it in a different tank with different price tag than the wenxianensis.
However, it is just my opinion, I could be wrong. I think more pictures will help identify the specimen better.

Tylototriton is fun to work with ..... as long as you don't have hundreds of them....hahahaaaa

Hi Angus
Great to have a large number dealer here again. Missed that kind of "Persontolove" here.
Such animals arrived here last year as asperrimus,
all of them died becaus the shipment was left on the airport in the sun for some days, i think.
And tehy showed hurts and wounds, as if they were caught and carried around with rough nets or potatoebags. Plus destroyed kidneys or whatever. Identification is very unsure, as long such rubbish books like that drawing atlas are used as sources,...
Greets,
Philipp
