The Varying Colors of Axolotls - Submissions

No my wild type is only almost 5monthes old but i was planning on breeding them once he/she is old enough.

Nikki 71 - I think the juvvie that's kept you guessing is a Silver Dalmatian, or possibly a purple wildtype. She is a lovely colour though :)

My axie Nero is a bit odd in my opinion. I'm pretty sure he's a silver dalmation.

Well now I actually DO have a copper!

I received him from a friend and at first I thought he was a light wild type, but his eyes are red making him a copper.

Somewhere between wild and melanoid-ish, I don't know much about colors but he seems to be really spotty (looks spottier in person than the picture for some reason,) and he is dark - but not dark enough to be melanoid? I don't really know lol.

I have nero's brother or sister still with me. Looks just like that spotted melanoid. I got so excited when i realised he was spotted! Its so cute! Im so happy nero is doing good. I really enjoy ipdates on my babies. I wish some people wont email me here and there maybe with pictures(i love pictures)
You arethe only one ive gotten to see pictures of how they are doing and they are awesome! Youre a real pro! Im happy that you took them. Its scary to get rid of babies to strangers and hope they take my advice/research. You are doing somethin right his/her gills are beautiful! Looks nice and healthy.

I did get an email from one guy that bought 16 from me and he wants me to go visit them. I may try to do so though he lives far away. Id like fo see them!

I also have two albinos left. They are my handicaped lotls. One has a bent tail since day 10 didnt think he was going to make it because genetically not stable but he is still growing and happy. Only issue is when he tries to dive in the tank he spirals due to the tail :D

He is definately melanoid. No shiney ring in his eyes
Like wild types all melanoids can have variations in colors. A wild type could be my texas and green yello black and white splotchs all over him, to even pitch black to the point you thibk its a melanoid but it has gold specks and ring in eye.
I think it just has something to do with how much melanin your axie has. Melanoids can range from any shade of gray, blue, black , sometimes purple
I would LOVE a black wild type! They look so cool!

:D That sounds like it's adorable to watch! I'm very glad that you're on this site here to (mostly because if not I'd never have gotten Nero or Nell) but also because it's a good reference for me to look at your axolotls to see if mine are doing well. The only issue I've had so far is that my golden thought it would be a good idea to bite Nero so I separated them again to make sure nothing else happens.

Also, my friend Sarah's (the other girl who got axolotls with me) axolotls are doing just as well as mine. Her leucistic is absolutely stunning! She doesn't take a lot of pictures but trust me, they're super duper cute.

It is very adorable! haha! Well without this site I don't think I would of raised those babies right. I mean other then a few nibbles before they got seperated, I dont think I did a bad job raising them :) I do know for next time just to seperate them once they get their front limbs in, once the back ones start coming in thats when injuries start "note to self" Because I will be breeding my beautiful Texas once she is old enough so now I know what NOT to do.

But this site has been there for ALL my questions, I wish the rest of the people would of listened to me and joined as well. . I told them countless times.

I am so glad to know how healthy and beautiful your axies are turning out to be! I actually just found my cords for my digital camera and I am uploading them to my computer, I will then add them to my profile if you want to see them as itty bitty babies <3 lol Plus I have like a million o ther pictures to add here too anyways so once I am done you can take a look if you want :)

About nipping, its touch and go, and every lotl is different. I have had three together since they were 3" and no problems with nipping, but you never know what goes through their mind :p

Thank you for your update on both you and Sarah! I am glad they are doing good.

This is my standard leucistic :) but I love her matching face freckles she's developed in the past few months. I wish her gills were larger though, but I rescued her in very poor conditions (she had minimal red fluffy bits almost invisible and her stem parts were a dark blue :( )
