Illness/Sickness: They had a fight now they are both in bad ways

Both my axies had a fight and one now has part of tail missing and has her mouth open most of the time. The other one has a cut in the side of her stomach her Gills where bad but now better and she did has peeling skin this was on Thursday. Since then the have been in a tea bath and the one with the tail bitten has eaten two worms on Thursday and today saturday i found that the one with the cut had blood in her tank I change the water at lest twice a day and i keep the temp at around 15 to 18 degrees they want eat and we don't have a vet where i am that knows about axies, I don't know what more i can do

Do you keep both axies in that little tub? Not surprising they fight if you do - it's not big enough and there is nowhere for them to hide.
Both those axies look sick, injured and way too thin - I suggest you get them to a vet ASAP.
 
I'd be doing daily water changes to keep the water clean and free from toxins. Keep a close eye on them for fungus, but the tea baths should help. If that is their regular tank they need more space. It's recommended 10 gallons per axolotl, at least... I'd give more space for lots of hides so they aren't as likely to attack each other.

Also, it's really helpful to test for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and ph. If you don't have a test kit the liquid api test kit is reliable and might cost a bit but they last months.
 
Both those axolotls look ammonia burnt, the second one very badly. You need to check their requirements and give them a better standard of care or they will die.
 
thanks that not the tank they live in they have a 3 foot tank they share but i have to change it and re cycle they water. at the moment they are both in separate 25L tanks until i change they big tanks water. my mum checked the ammonia in the big tank and it was fine. they are looking better now no skin is peeling and the white on has been swimming around. the pic is of the set up what i had to give the a tea bath they are in different tanks. but both want eat. I am doing the bigger fish tank today and i am getting a piece of glass to separate them in the big tank.
 
Awww, poor babies! I hope they are able to heal, and they start eating again!

So how would you suggest they got burnt ? Dont think I am having a go at you but something is seriously wrong with your tank and possibly your test kit or your mums ability to use one. You also need to be testing for nitrates and nitrites .Those axolotls are wrecked and you haven't even posted about the condition of their skin, the second axolotl doesn't look like its been in a fight it looks like its tail is actually rotting away, the first axolotls gills look burnt red and appear to be bleeding. This is not down to aggression it is down to your standard of care and if you do not improve it they are as good as dead. After reading this post you can do two things
1) Get stroppy , dont pay any attention and flush your axolotls down the toilet in the very near future
or
2)Read up on the care requirements, paying attention to tank cycling, water quality , water testing and required temperature. Then come back and ask for whatever advice you need.
The tea baths ,temp and water changes are fine for treating the axolotls, so continue that.
 
thanks for advice i will recheck all the amino and nitrate and ph and I have had axoltls for over 3 year and this is the first time this has happened to me. I will continue with the tea bath and re read up of the cycling of the water and other daily care. And i promise i want get stroppy with you i love my axies and i will take your advice to heart and do my best to get them back in to good health. from now on i will do the ammonia and ph testing. I will redo the fish tank today and post a pic of it to see you can suggest anything. I will keep you posted on there condition by the way the white ones tail is getting better not really red anymore. I think the tea baths are helping a just did a full water change in the morning today in their little tanks. is there any thing else i could do thanks.
 
i just tried feeding them and they still want eat i tried a pellet but no luck should i try earth worms instead
 
Yes, try the earth worms. If they still won't eat, don't fret too much. They're most likely still stressed from the whole situation and the last thing their bodies want to do right now is use energy trying to digest food.
 
okay thank u By the way just start to recycle my big fish tank check the ammonia and ph and nitrates put some dechlorinator in it and i am getting some sand for the bottom of the tank and buying a new filter as the one of the ones i have is over 20 years old yet it still works and the other is for a 20l tank but what is the best filter to buy for a 3 foot tank.
 
A canister filter would be your best bet for a tank that size. The ideal brands to get are Eheim, Fluval, Filstar, or Marineland. On the box, it should tell you what size the filter is, and what size tank it will work with.
 
thanks so much i will get in soon is having sand a good idea and i am buying a vacuum to pick the poo and uneaten food with to stop pollution hopefully the water will settle down fast so they can get back to the big tank and be happy.
 
they still haven't eaten and i am getting another tank cyceling but the ph is to high how can a lower it without using chemical because i have run out and i have to 30 mins to buy more which i can't do at the moment.
 
I cant think of a reason as to why your PH would be high in a tank with fresh water in all of a sudden and you havent mention high PH being a problem before,did you mean PH?
have you tested your tap water with a liquid test kit?

Usually when a tank is cycling the ph drops too low.

Driftwood in a tank can help to lower PH and i would use that before you start messing about with chemicals
 
sorry i meant the ph was low not high it was to blue not green i tested the tap water it was around 7. and in the tank it was around 7.2 is that okay for them. they are looking happier the big fish tank ph is getting better it was to high and the ammonia was out of whack but the cycling is bring it to satiable. but they still wont eat and the yellow one is stressed out and they both want eat.
 
Ph does usually drop during cycling then righten itself out, 7.2 if fine but if you want to raise it a little, get some bird grit (crushed oyster shell) pop it in a stocking and pop it in your tank, the higher you want the ph, the more grit you add, but be wary as it doesnt immediately change the ph, it takes a few days.

I use this as my tank water is naturally 6.0PH so it needs raising and it now sits happily at 7.4PH
Have you tried them on black worms or wax worms? They usually cant resist black worms. Just keep trying with the feeding and they will eventually take the food.

 
You said you keep your tank at "15 to 18 degrees", how do you do this ?
 
I would like to know if your axies are still alive and if they are how are they doing , why don't you post some updated photos? you never did post the pics you said you were going to post 2 days ago, I too am very concerned about your axies I do hope they ar better, give us an up date please
