Hi all,
I'm posting yet again about the adult female I rehomed several months ago. I have had nothing but problems since she came to me. I love her dearly but feel as though I'm doing everything in my power to help her yet its to no avail.
First of all I couldn't get her to eat. I've since tried her on everything I can get hold of; bloodworm, live earthworm, brine shrimp, daphnia etc and she won't touch any of it.
She then had this 'swelling' problem, where her abdomen would become increasingly enlarged. I was advised it was bloat or an impaction. To this point it still settles down then comes back, settles down...etc.
Last week she was fridged and being treated for a fungal infection which seems to have cleared up.
NOW this week...She's back in the tank with her lovely, perfectly healthy tankmate and is literally 'standing up' the whole time. By this i mean, she is stood perfectly upright on the tank floor (sometimes floating) with her head facing straight up to the surface of the water. On her way back down to the tank floor after a gulp of air she appears to be having trouble getting her balance. For example she topples to her side and/or backwards and is, once again, very swollen in the abdomen region.
I have 5 other axolotls all in perfect health, but my old girl just troubles me so... someone told me she could just be sickly in general??
Any ideas?
