This makes me so sad

It is very depressing! I usually try not to buy from pet shops but couldnt resist my boy Zombie.. He is a beautiful boy and has his own filtered 5 gallon aquarium to his self :)

the pictures make him look black and green but hes actually black and blue
but he was from a pet store.. i feel like i saved him.. these fish make amazing pets and not many people give them the care they need and expect a tiny fish bowl is ok for them when its not :/

Stunning Betta :)

I've got a boring blue - but I've had a single Betta in a decent(ish) tank for 25yrs (most live 2-3yrs) - only now that it's in the big tank can I see how happy they can be when given room :)

Thats really disgusting :( I'm so happy to never have seen bettas living in those sorts of conditions in real life. I've got a couple of gorgeous babies myself (All can be seen in my photo album) and I'm lucky enough to work in a pet store so I can actually educate people on how to accurately care for these gorgeous creatures. They deserve so much better than that.

I know it's sad. When I got my most recent betta a couple of weeks ago I had to shuffle around 30 cups to find the perfect one. I felt so bad that I couldn't bring them all home. Many of them had dead bettas that were already rotting (Eww I didn't even want to touch the cups they were in).I ended up going home with a mustard gas Male and a dark purple/blue female. To be honest this is the first time I'keeping a betta in a decent sized tank. My parents had always believed that bettas can be happily housed in those little betta bowls but they are much more active in a nice sized tank. ;)

Thats a long time for a betta! :)

I've never had one live less than at least a couple of years. I think if you keep them in a cup they're not going to survive very long - I'm amazed how active my current guy is - he owns the 850 tank :)
