On the opening credits of the HBO series "True Blood" there is what appears to be an Ambystoma larvae pictured. Is it an A. tigrinum or another species?

LOL, I saw that too. My first thought was "axolotl", but they could have used a waterdog. I'll have to try freezing the shot and take a closer look. It goes by too quickly.

Re: Thought Provoking Question...

The head is flattened, and the eyes bulgy and forward-pointed. I'd say it's a larval tiger waterdog.

Thanks, I can rest easy now. Seriously though, as you mentioned the shot is so quick that it is difficult to tell. My first thought was that it was an axolotl as well.

Wish I could afford HBO.

I just started watching the first episode of the first season and I saw it too. Looks like an axolotl to me.

Do not tell anyone that I am addicted to that Vampire bodice-ripper....

But, thanks to DVR, I have examined it in detail. My vote is for A. mexicanum filling in as tigrinum.

Lol! I too watch it....but then again i´ll watch anything as long as i don´t vomit with the first episode xDDD
I also think it´s a waterdog...the first time i saw the opening i jumped a little on my chair xD

I am proud to be a vampire watcher, and I saw the Axolotl as well !

Good show, eh? Wouldn't you know it after having HBO for a couple of decades we, due to the American economy, partiularly my wife who is a state of Cali employee and Gov Arnold keeps slashing their pay, decided to drop all of our premium movie channels. The only show I watched anyway was Bill Maher's so I figured we can do without them and now this show comes along. Oh, well, I guess I can rent the DVDs when they come out.

Respectfully,
Mal
