I have a tiger salamander for 2 months and I think she is not feeling well. When I got her she was active and eating 2-3X a week. I mainly feed her earthworms. I changed her tank set up and that's when her attitude changed. She would just burrow and would not come out. She has not eaten for 2 weeks straight now. Because I was getting concerned I searched for her and found her under the cork bark. But this time I saw one of her front leg is facing backwards and when she walks she only uses all except one.

I put her in a plastic container with paper towel (sprayed w/de chlorinated water). Today I saw a slimy greenish slim. Is this a vomit? poop? If so, I know she is sick. Going to a vet for me is not an option. I want to try everything I can to treat her. I see that refrigerating works? Salt baths? Please if anyone can help me who had a similar situation please I need your advice. PLEASE!

I'm sorry you didn't get any replies and I don't have anything to offer besides the things you've already mentioned. But I was just wondering... how she's doing? I hope much better.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
