I found this video on "YouTube", and his set-up looks very nice, but there are entirely too many guppies in there! The video shows an adult Taricha eat a decent sized guppy from the stream section of the tank.
The stream is why I decided to post the video. I think it is a great way to encourage microhabitats, and obviously led to the fish using it as a nursery, and the newt feeding from there through conditioning. Very cool approach to a feeding stream, bad amount of fish(the waste volume must be staggering!). Let me know what you think!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
