Training Axolotls

No, not really, he just kinda sat and stared from a distance. :rolleyes:

He still hasn't really caught on, but I think this could be because Aristotle Axolotl just moved in, plus I've re-arranged the tank (feeding net still in the same place). He was getting it, but the tank was pretty bare so I had to put new stuff in. :happy:

Aristotle Axolotl had passed out five pieces of gravel from the LFS, and didn't eat for weeks, so I had been force-feeding him. He is eating on his own now, but doesn't take from my hand like Banana, but picks his food up of the floor. I take him out and put him in a small tub to eat, so Banana has 'his' space. ;)
 
That seems like such a cool idea. I think I'm going to try this out with my axolotls too!
 
Great idea! I'm thinking about trying it out as well 'cause mine seem to always leave food behind.

I'm quite new to Axies so I've been figuring out a way to feed them without it getting too messy (especially with the brine shrimp). I've tried using a small glass vase but when they turn around to get out the current from their tails digs up all the brineshrimp and bloodworms. So right now I'm feeding them every other day and putting them in a separate container to feed while I do my 20% water changes (It's a 10 gallon tank housing two axolotls so I have to do it more frequent changes... and I'm currently shopping around for a bigger tank before they get too big). It's a pain and I was actually wondering if this was going to stress them out. But the net definitely sounds like a really good idea... I will let you know how it goes!! :happy:

Thanks Colinna, I first tried this as I have large river-rocks (bigger than their head).. and the food kept getting caught, worms would try and dig. I'm getting some sand though.
 
Haha.. last night Banana swam into the net by himself!
I was doing the last check on my fish/axies before I went to bed, and guess who was in the net looking for his dinner? I had to feed him, just a small meal. :p
Naughty thing made me give him a meal on the no-eating day, I couldn't resit those eyes, and I wanted to reinforce the good behaviour. I'm really pleased with this!
