Full tank picture, The only thing I don't like about plants are all the insects I see swimming around.

How big is the tank?
T.dobrogicus rarely spends any time on land if conditions are adequate. The fact that all of them are spending time out of water could point out to bad water quality, i would get that checked.

Not Sure if my last post went through from my android phone ;-).

Tank is 30 gallons but only half full as the newts are still sub adults.Temperature is generally 68-70 although Im sure it drops at night when it gets colder. I was using my old test strips from when I had my indoor pond but recently ran out can you reccomend a good brand Azhael?

Now you have me worried I cleaned the tank very well when I got home removed dead plant leaves from the frog bits, used a baster to clean debris from the sand, and did a substantial water change.

Sure enough as soon as I turned the lights off there was a newt on the rock:grin:.

Chlorine 0ppm

akalinity very high not sure if this is good or not

Water is very hard which I already knew

Ammonia is almost non existent.

I cant explain why they like to chill on the rock at night:confused:

There is nothing wrong with them chilling on the island at night. These came from my line and there is almost always one on the floating island chilling. I have kept them for about three years and bred them each year without fail. They are healthy and yours look like it too. Dont worry bout it. If they are feeding fine, active but not too active, and dont show signs of bloat or any other disease ignore comments about resting on an island being a bad thing. I dont mean to offend anyone. Maybe my line of dobros rests more than others. Many of my friends have my line and theirs use islands as well.

I usually see mine resting a couple of hours on land almost every night , especially the juvie's. If they eat , are active and your water quality is fine i think you have nothing to worry about.
