Your T. v. ophryticus group looks amazing to say the least Juraj, how is the breeding going?

Hey Juraj,

Nice animals! I noticed the female has a bit of a scrape on the side of her head and the male may have the same on his foreleg. Is that the result of mating encounters? I have a male with a similar mark behind his left shoulder which I'm watching cautiously...

Very nice looking animals. How long have you had them?

Coen: it`s going well there are already some eggs.
Brian: that`s not a scrap though it looks like that but mating encounters are really tempestuous. See male`s crest.
Justin: I`ve got them only a few days.

Wow, I havent seen newts like that before. They look wierd but in an awesome way. Great pics!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
