Since a month I have 10 Tylototriton wenxianensis cb 2011, I bought them on a Dutch salamander society meeting. They do really well, I keep them in a plastic terrarium in my living room. I use damp white paper and pieces of tree bark in the terrarium so it is easily to clean and check the animals. I have a small water bowl in it with some fine stones in it so they can't drown, the water is a few milometers deep. The animals are fed with small crickets, when they are a bit bigger I will try to feed them chopped earthworms. Here are a few pictures of them.

They can be really fast if they want to, here is a picture of them in their set up. In the right corner you can see a small piece of apple. I use it when I feed crickets to my salamanders so the crickets always have something to eat.

The dutch are proving to be phenomenal tylo keepers and breeders! I only wish we had such luck in Portugal!

Like the yellow feet.

Please treat them well, I hear that recently, it is no real and no wild catch T.wenxianensis in market, due to the greatest decreasing rate of wenxianensis after China Earthquark in 2009.
wenxianensisis so difficult to have now, the seller would sell the fake T.wenxianensis which are choosing from T.asperrimus look like wenxianensis.
I saw from some organisation in Hong Kong which protecting the T.wenxianensis. The newts from picture are similar to yours. with yellow fingers not in orange and similar skin texture. you have real wenxianensis

I want to have, but no chance

There are very few wenxianensis available yes. The breeder is very experienced and he even tested the DNA of the adults and it is 100% pure Tylototriton wenxianensis. I hope that I can breed with this specie in 3 years and make this specie more available in captivity.

It is very sad to hear that they are doing so bad in the wild. Is the Chinese government working on protecting them in the wild? It truly are amazing animals and it would be an honour to ever have the chance to see them in the wild before they are extinct in the wild.

All spieces of Tylototriton in China are illegal to keep, catch and export. China have listed Tylototriton in 2nd Threadened Spiece, due to the decreasing rate is so fast. Although the restriction, there still have many ways to bring them out, by ship or lorry country to country.
Yes, I want to have Tylototriton wenxianensis, I ask from the shop and the keeper said, In this few years, it is very difficult to find them in wild, and no catcher collect them now.
Then I search from internet that more people study newts, they see the dropping rate, they start to concern the spieces, more organisation protect them. a organisation set a team and go to the orginate of wenxianensis to visit them. The people who live there said as before, it was easy to find them, 100-200 pieces in a pool and many pools have them. But after earthquark and climate change, in recently, walked a whole day, only 10-20 found in a small pool. The spiece is endanger, itf no change, wild extinct is not far.
Scientists and Insitute are work to keep and breed them.
So, I hope, if you have Tylototriton wenxianensis, please treat them the best. I withdraw to keep them, because I am not a well keeper. I am so jealous of wenxianensis keeper:happy:

yes,In my country, all of Tylototriton is protected by government, but there are still many way to get them(t.shanjin, wenxian, tailiang, and cheizhou).
I have not heard about the earthquake has decreased its number...
but ,in fact ,the environment of the rural area seems to worsen significantly because of the pullotion.

May to Sep ,I can buy all of Tylototriton in this period,as u can see, they are all wild.:(

my English is poor, hope you know what i mean

It is very sad that these animals are caught in the wild so frequently in that period. Do you have any pictures of Tylototriton habitat? I have found a few pictures in the past but I would like to see some more so I can copy it in my terrarium.
