Hi, I have been searching this site for a couple of months now for various info and have found it to be most helpful. Now I am a member I thought I should post something.

I first started using this site when I salvaged some smooth newt eggs from my garden pond (would probably have been eaten by the fish) anyway I raised them until they morphed 12 of them in total. By this time I had grown quite attached to the little fellas, would sit for ages just watching them tucking into black/green flies aphids etc, spiders and caterpillars, so this triggered my interest in newts etc and decided after much research, mainly from here, to get some Tigers, I liked the look of their faces. I set to work designing an enclosure to fit on my desk, will post some pictures when I get round to it.

Got Tigers 2 weeks ago, 2 of them Boo and Goomba, sub adults, they are settling in well and I am amazed at how different their personalities are, Boo is very cheeky looking, loves his pool and has a good appetite and often comes out during the day. Goomba is a bit shy but still equally cute, doesn't seem overly keen on worms, definately prefers things that move more, moths, spiders, crickets.

That's it for now. :p

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
