So I have no idea the locale on this salamander. It was found in a box of moss purchased in a plant nursery. I have an idea what it is, but I don't want to taint anyone's opinion. Any ideas what this could be.

Desmognathus of some sort. Without locality, it's hard to say much more, but my first suspicion is D.fuscus.

Yes looks like a Seal salamander (Desmognathus monticola)

This link will show you 24 pictures to compare it too. Two of them are almost a perfect match.

Don't think it's monticola. D. monticola should have a strong keel on the posterior 2/3 of the tail, that one looks pretty round. Could be fuscus or conanti, but it is hard to tell without any locality info or more characteristics visible.

Lack of keel was my main reason for guessing fuscus. Color isn't terribly useful in many desmos.
