Kudos, did you test your water for ammonia, nitrites and nitrates? Heat would not have caused her to lose her gills (unless she had fungus which is stress related from heat and/or water quality) or part of his skin, generally it's water quality.

You must admit George was pretty fat before the revised diet. Gotta love her. Junior lost his skin too, keep doing the regular water changes my son.

Once I saw the pics in post 13 I really feared that Sue and Leui would be going the same was as Junior. I'm glad it seems that I was wrong.
