Paul - did you read the post from Jennifer? If not scroll up this thread and re-read it to answer your question about feeding.

Newly hatched larvae can be moved using a turkey baster if you are very careful.

They are okay for about 2 days. After two days, you will see them swimming a little bit more, turkey baste him out or tip him out into another container.

You only feed the BS after you've moved the axie babies to another container/tank. Remember to feed twice a day once you start feeding; as well as almost complete daily waterchanges (you can make up a clean container of dechlorinated water, then turkey baste the axies babies from the "dirty" tank and put them in the clean water and clean the other one out.

When removing the hatched larve from the eggs will the turkey baster not harm the axie as there so small will it not borther them using this to move them from the eggs into another tubawear?\

<!-/quote-!>

I used the turkey baster for my sisters' when I first picked them up for them, they were still sorting out tanks and things and I axie sat for about 2.5 weeks, while they got stuff together. It is so handy, especially for separating from the eggs. If the hole on your turkey baster looks a bit small then cut the tip off and smooth it with sandpaper or a nail file Husband did similar to a couple of ours, for picking up the "larger axie poos!"

Hi,

I took it stright out from the eggs and put into a new tank it seem to be swimming around a little bit, I thought i had to seperate so i used turkey baster this morning to take out from eggs and put into another tank. Ill just add a bit of daphina tomorrow see if it eats them

Is that best thing do you think?

Cheers

Hi,

Another 2 have hatched today 1st March, Yes i understand now, Iam going to use my daphina first before i use the BBS, And why do some people say 24hours before needing food and others say 3days?

Im pritty confused shall i just wait a couple of days the one witch hatched first wqill need food before the rest of them, Ive added a little daphina today and its not even intrested init.

Anyone any ideas i have 3 hatched larve at the moment. And all 3 i have seen swimming a little.

Thanks

Can you suck some of the clear gloop out without grabbing eggs and drop it in with the lone axie baby? It does usually take 2 days before they eat BBS, so add a bit and he may eat a little of it. They do swim a little bit, then once they start eating the BBS/daphnia, they'll zip round their tubs grabbing food.

No its all stuck together i tried today to get the gloop ( the white eggs with out the larve init ) and cannot get it serperated from the other larve, And yes they do zip around the tank sometimes lol, and ive added a little daphina and ill just wait untill its been eaten and add a little more it doesnt seem intrested in the daphina at the moment?

What shall i do about the egg gloop shall i add the axie witch is alone back with the eggs?, And i thought once they hatched i was ment to remove them from the rest of the eggs?

The other 2 witch hatched today i havnt moved yet shall i leave in with eggs and then put the other witch hatched yesterday back into the egg tank?

Thanks
Paul

hello Paul, i have added you on msn messenger, accept me and we can chat about axolotls, im online most of the time. I have about 25 baby axolotls that are 2 weeks old. take care x

When you clean the tub, do you do partial water change, or total clean-out? Also, do you have some kind of airstone or bubbler? If the answers are "partial" and "Yes", then I would say the water level should be MUCH higher.

ok, i do daily changes partial not fully, take quite a bit out and yes theres a airstone aswell.

So should i make the water higher in the tub they are 4days old?, and how much higher?, 2inch or more?

They dont seem to get daphina as much when its higher, they are waiting for it swim past mouth and then snatching it.

Should i still make higher and add more daph what do you think?,

Thanks
Paul

Anyone help with above question as iam concerned for the axies it might be too shallow ?

If it were me, I'd make it deeper. Some of the daphnia do get to the bottom, so you wouldn't need to add a lot more daphnia. Also, if you add plants to the tank, the axies won't always be on the bottom. A larger total water volume is good for having a more stable water quality.

Yes, Maybe ill add some plants and higer the water ?, Do you think a sponge filter aswell would be good, or do u just say make water higher and keep with airstone?

Whats best way to have it?

I have heard of problems that are related to air stones something to do with the type of bubbles. I have just put a sponge filter and mine are 2 and a half weeks old and doing great!. x

And mine are ok and i have air stone with my 5day old babies, and they seem be doing excelent

Super-fine bubbles can be a problem, as it can cause super-saturation of gas in the water. Also, a huge flow-rate of air can be a problem if it makes too much turbulence in the water. Otherwise, any kind of airstone or sponge filter is just fine.

They not fine bubbels some are small bubbels, but thats same with a 6 inch air stone really, ?, Shall i get a sponge filter for them are they the best thing use?

Ill go out and gt a sponge filter tomorrow ( SAT )

Thanks
Paul
