UVA-UVB Light

Hello!
I would like to ask if it is ok to use a 25W UVA-UVB sera lamp for my pleuro tank (100cmx30cmx40cm). I haven't put it yet, but I read that they need UVB light for the vitamin D3, so I was wondering if I should put it...

Salamanders don't really need UVB. The light could actually be problematic if it warms the water too much.
 
What kind of lid do you have on the tank? Glass or plastic will block virtually all UV, so, depending on the lid, the UV component may be wasted. Having UV won't hurt, but newts will do just as well with a good diet and no special lighting.
 
Thank you for the responses. I have a plastic lid but the lights are under it. The lights are not bulbs, they are "long lights", I don't know how it is called! Anyway as long as it isn't necessery I won't put the UV lamp. Thanks again

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
