Are you sure your water conditions are spot on? That's odd behavior for an Axolotl in my opinion.

He wasn't gulping air from the top so I wouldn't say it was that bad. I think he just wants more room to swim really. Water looks a tad crappy, keep doing treated water changes and keep the filter on.

yea he wasn't gulping , just swimming around , and i am going to take about 2 pint out every day till it clears and leave the filter on all night

I'd say a bucket rather than two pints, the faster the water clears the better.

Hey Harry
As well getting a bigger tank...you will need to give that sand a mix up once a week to avoid getting gas bubbles in there.
It will turn your sand black and give off bad stuff (i am soooo technical)
And it really will, mine has done in the past.

I am just going to reply on Harry's behalf.

he is aware his tank is on the small side, but he has bought two tanks in the last week and has promised to upgrade as soon as he is able.

The water is also murky because he put his sand in last night.

Harry you really should work out how much water you have in the tank so you can change 20% a day...I think that is an 80litre tank or maybe 100, so you need to change about 15-20 litres a day, unless I am wrong a pint is less than a litre. You should be able to get a bucket with markings on it, a 'standard' garden bucket will be about 15litres

Haha that axie has such a chunky fat head! hehe! Just a shame about the small tank but Harry is fully aware of this issue from previous posts (and is aware of the thick layer of sand, he's getting some plants today so once he has burried the plants adequately he hill remove the excess sand!) I just hope he manages to get a bigger tank sorted sooner rather than later! Ive just found a 36x18x15 for £5 gonna try and get it dropped off by the weekend! the same guy also has a 48x15x12 for £8!

Can we see some pictures of the tank with all the plants? they will love all the nooks and crannies to hide about in.

He doesnt have the second hand ones on his web site but I spoke to him today and says he has 20 used tanks available all 3ft and 4ft! You can message him using the contact box on the site if you wanna know more about what he has but have put his phone number on that thread if you wanna have a chat with him! He seems like a nice chap and is very helpful I just asked him what my cheapest options are for a large tank and he suggested his used ones!
