Hey guys, I just got a new axolotl from a breeder two days ago. She's doing fine (eating, exploring, swimming, etc...) and generally acting alright.
What was concerning me about her is some stuff physically. Her gill stalks are very stunted-looking and she has some red marks on her tail. I'm new to axolotls so I was just wondering if anyone would be able to put my mind at ease if I'm just worrying over nothing.

She's fine :)

The red marks are just a bit of damage possibly happened in the post if she was posted, other than that she's probably caught it on something. She looks healthy other than that.

So her gill stalks are fine too aside from looking at little... twisted? Will they grow in length?
Thank you for the replies by the way.

Yeah, gills don't always grow straight especially if they've been chewed at a bit and so on. But they have their frills and they're a nice colour. Length can be due to water quality or genetics, some just have short ones. They might grow if you have pristine quality water. She's still very pretty. :)
