when is the best time to go searching for salamanders/newts in eastern washington?

p.s. not for keeping only to look at wild ones

spring through summer, but I haven't seen many over there. Actually none.

Depending on elevation, pretty much during the winter rainy season through spring is the best. I've seen tons there just casually looking.
