Hello! I have some questions for tanks setups and flow rate and do aquariums need water movements? because my axolotls are stressed from something and the only thing I can find is the water flow and the flow is at minimum for my setup but I still think it is too much for my juvenile axolotls.
Right now my tank setup is 40 gallon tank with fluval 406 with 30 inch spray bar facing upwards to the surface of the water with flow rate turned down to half which is about 200 gph and also it's connected with 1/10 hp aquaeuro chiller. For filter media I have basic foams on the bottom tray and other baskets are filled with biohome ultimate which is about a little over 3kg. I keep my water temperature between 60f~63f, the chiller automatically goes Into safe mode and the water temp goes up few degrees and then chills again in 30 minutes duration.
The water quality test indicates that there is no ammonia no nitrite but very very little nitrate, ph is about 7.8
I've read some articles on the internet saying that there needs to some water movements in an aquarium and i'm planning to cover my spray bars with sponges to get rid of the outflow force completely. I'm afraid that, with no water movements/no outflow force, the fresh filtered water won't mix all throughout the aquarium and cause bad water quality. My spray bars is mounted on the back side of the tank.
