Hi there,

I recently got my first axolotl, he/she is only several weeks old. He's been doing fine so far, but I'm concerned about the water temp of my tank; it sits at 70 degrees F (approx. 21 C).

While it doesn't generally seem to get lower than this, it also never gets higher than this. I know 68 is ideal, but is this okay? My axie seems super active and seems to eat a lot, so I'm worried it may be too warm.

Thanks for any suggestions!

It's fine. :)

You just don't want the temperature to hit 75F+.

70 itself isn't terrible, but if something happens and it goes too much higher you might end up with problems. I run a desk fan over my tanks and don't have a problem keeping it below 70 except when we had a heat wave last summer and I had to use frozen bottles for a few days.

Thanks!

Yeah, I'm planning on getting a small fan soon and blowing it over the surface to see if I can bring the temp down in case it gets really warm at some point.
