I have been doing a lot of research on axolotls before I get my new family member.... I am finding a large range for the ideal temperature of the water for my new friend. My water is staying between 68-69F. Will my axolotl be comfortable and healthy at this temperature?

The ideal temperature for any caudate is between 10-20° if it is so cold (-0)they will be sleeping lot of time, and if it is so cold (+25° to up),they will try to escape out,and if you dont have a filter and there is so much water, axolotl could drown. Sorry for the degrees type

Drown? How can an axolotl drown when it lives underwater? My tank has been cycling for 4 months and nothing has gone above 69° F (20.5° C).

You want temps between 60-66 degrees. Anything above this can be stressful so to drop it a bit try an aquarium fan (or even a desk fan) positioned above the tank. The range is optimal, but you don't want your tank fluctuating between 60-66, see what the fan drops it down to and keep it at that temp (e.g. keep it at 64 degrees).
I think what Luciotasexy may have been saying is that at really cool temps (down to 10 degrees celcius) they will live but become lethargic, so you want it above that. If it's too hot they will be agitated. Any aquatic animal can drown but as long as you have oxygen in the water and the height isn't super deep you will be fine. Axolotl's have gills and lungs so will go to the surface to take breaths
TLDR; Choose a temp between 60-66 and keep it there (use a fan). Anything higher will be stressful and can cause health issues :)

Awesome. Thank you for the info. I will get a fan and see what the temperature stays at. I also have an air pump to help oxygenate the it's tank. In your experience.... Is there a personality difference between the males and females?

Personality-wise, not really. Only physically, females are shorter and fatter, males have a bump under their tail (when they mature) :)

Ok. Thank you for helping me out. I'm so excited to get my axolotl. ❤️
