I've been noticing that my water doen't look as clear as it did. I've noticed brown build up in my tank and on my plants. When i did a ammonia level it comes back to zero but i noticed cristals floting in the sample. What is going on?? What's causing it?

Thank you

The brown stuff and cloudiness is likely to be algae - check your nitrate levels, it's probably a little too high. It can be washed or wiped off ornaments quite easily.

What are your parameter readings?

The crystals in your test are likely to be the testing chemicals - make sure you shake your bottles thoroughly before using them.

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
