Waxy tail?

I'm pretty sure that by now everyone wants to call me paranoid and I'm sorry but I can't help it. In addition to the slightly curling gills thing I posted about in a different thread I also noticed some things with his tail. one is that the very very tip is curled. I almost had to squint to notice but it is. and today his tail looks weird. it looks kinda waxy rather than smooth. and it looks like there's something under his tail. like there's the thick tail, and then the clear part and that's normal but it looks like there's an extra Ridge right under the pink part. idk if maybe these are normal things in only noticing now or if he's really sick or something.

I know it's a bit hard to tell and this was the best picture I could get but to me it just looks waxy and like there's a thicker, less-opaque bit under the pink of his tail about 2cm wide before the real opaque part starts. idk

I don't see anything weird in the picture, and I'm not experienced enough to know if your description is of some ailment.

I do know that for a while after we got our first axie, it looked like the very edges of the tail crest were folded over. in a few places I searched like crazy all over this site (while trying to calm down my daughter, who is the real owner of the axolotls in this house) and didn't find anything definitive. Eventually, he grew out of it or got over it.

It is better to be a bit paranoid and ask questions than to not pay attention or try an unsuitable treatment. :happy:
