Hi there! In ten days I am leaving for an 8 day vacation, and even though I’ve been planning for this for a while, it’s coming up soon and I wanted feedback on my set up for my axie to be home alone during those 8 days.
He is in the coldest room in the house (deepest part of basement), with a fan to keep the temperature between 63-66 degrees.
His light will be on a nine hour timer, which is slightly different (usually I do it manually), but he is used to light and I need it for my heavily planted tank.
I have a fluval 207 filter that is a bit overkill for his 20 gallon long, and an army of plants, shrimp, limpets, and snails to help with waste. Not as good as getting it out of there, but that’s the best I can do.
The thing that has me the most worried is the feeding. Oaki is plump and used to getting fed every other day. I’ve been gradually weaning him to every 4 days in preparation for the trip, but 8 days is still a long time. He has the shrimp in there with him, but he’s not very good at catching them and I’m not sure he be able to if he’s hungry (granted, he could afford to lose a little weight). I’ve been babying him for so long now and I’m worried about something happening to him, even with my careful set up.... tips and reassurances would be much appreciated!
Here are some pictures of my baby! He’s 9 months old!
