Hi lovely ppl,

I'm trying to soak some new mopani wood that I got from PaH (gasp), and not having much luck. I first tried putting it in the tank after just a day's soak. It covered EVERYTHING in a disgusting, foul smelling brown goo. It took me days to clean the filter, and I had to abandon that entire setup for the time being

I'm being a bit more circumspect now... it's sitting in a bucket which gets changed with new steaming hot water every day. It's been sitting like that for nearly 2 weeks, and the water still goes brown and smells within a day.

This weekend I'm going to drag it all the way back home to London and put it through my rents' dishwasher. That aside, does anyone have any tips to fix this problem, or a similar experience? Most threads on tropical forums seem to recommend a couple of days in hot water = problem solved. Not so here!

P.S. I can't afford to buy new/presoaked wood :(
