I woke up a couple days ago to my 4 year old axolotl having these weird flaps of skin hanging off her tail, they were a lot smaller than the picktures though. Today it's gotten worse. It's the first time I've ever seen this and nothing in the aquarium has changed, though the weather was really hot yesterday so I was using ice water bottles throughout the day. She doesn't have any signs of stress, gills are normal, tail isn't curled, skin is the right colour, she's still eating and lively so I'm really at a loss.

Just wanting to make sure it isn't the start of something bad, and if it is, what can I do to stop it and prevent it in the future.

P.s. the giant missing parts in her tail fin are from before I had her, she's a rescue

Is there any aquarium ornament/decor that has a rough/sharp patch on that she could have scraped herself along at all?
Do you know what your water parameters are at the moment?
Sorry I can't offer any real help, I really hope a more experienced axolotl owner will be able to help you soon :)

Fantastic that you rescued her, I've got so much respect for people who give mistreated axolotl's a chance to thrive! It's truly such a wonderful thing to do!
