Hey guys, a few days ago my axolotl stopped eating and then yesterday he developed a fungal growth on his gills so I gave him a salt bath. Today though as I was giving him another salt bath I saw this weird circle on his side?? And I have NO idea what it is!

He's in a chilled (16 celcius) 30 gal tank with another axolotl who's healthy as a horse! All the water parameters are perfect and my other axolotl isn't showing any signs of distress. I've recently moved out so I'm running back and forth to deal with my tank until it gets moved so this is a really inopportune time for this to happen! Is tbet any hope at all for him?? And what can I do to help him?

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
