What ambystoma species?

Hello everyone,

I recently acquired a mole salamander that was sold as a "Spotted salamander" - but it is obviously not that. My guess is mavortium, but he has markings that are more like that spots than bands. He's a small morph (4-5"). What species is he?

Nice tiger! Are you keeping it on sphagnum moss?

Joan - Thanks! He's on sphagnum and "frog moss" with eco-earth soil underneath. Lately he's been doing the mole salamander thing and burrowing to the bottom.
