Like the title says, I have a 12 gallon tank and I want to put a Salamander or Newt in it! Alot of salamanders I've heard about can fit in a 12 gallon for a while but then need to be moved to a much larger tank. I don't have a larger tank, and so I don't really want one like that.

I heard some people say that I could fit one or two Fire Bellied Newts, but I also heard that they will eventually have to be moved.

If you own or know of any salamanders or newts ((or even a frog or toad)) that can fit in a 12 gallon for its whole life, I would really appreciate it!

Thanks.

Chinese firebelly newts (cynops orientalis) are only 6 - 10.3 cm (2.2 - 4 inches) when adults. Two would be comfortable in a 12 gallon set up. This type of firebelly is typically the kind you find in pet stores labeled "firebelly newt."

You can read up about them here:

I've got two now and they are absolutely wonderful and adorable.

Yes, CFB can live in a tank that size their whole life. A firebellied toad could live in a setup that size for its whole life too (but not in the same tank with CFB!) There are some other small newts that could also stay there, but they would be more difficult to find: alpine newts, for example. If you want just ONE newt, you could keep a single paddletail or warty newt in that tank.
