Hi

I want to give my axies some yummy treats when there older and wondered what you give yours and which are best received?
Mine are only young at the moment so I won't try any yet but what age did you start giving yours treats?

Would be great to know :) thanks

WORMS lol. The wrigglers perk their interest and they are great for them.

Yours are about 2.5" arnt they? you can give small whole worms or chopped bigger ones, they will love them.

My adult axies get large unchopped worms. They really can handle a lot. As a treat I give them a waxworm from time to time and an occasional cricket, which they really love. Mostly worms though.

For treats, mine get squirrel meat, deer meat, frogs, tadpoles, fish, shrimp, crawdads, other salamanders, crickets, roaches, etc. They are my little garbage disposal units.

I've been talking with a company over here in the UK that deals with worms and other fish feeds. They are interested in creating a more specialized feed website and I've suggested they come here for a gander. They may even have a look at breeding scuds and figuring out a way to ship them though I have no idea if that is even possible. As for food I have one that is a garbage disposal unit another that is the pickiest sod going.

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
