although the picture is not very clear i would say if it looks fluffy or stringy it most likely is.
if it has just appeared you need to start salt baths and isolate her if you have other axies incase they become infected aswell

she is my only axie and lives on her own, could you explain more about salt baths?

i have had the same problem on fraggle and i used tweezers to gently pluck it off. i also have a little bit of salt in my tank all the time. it worked for me but not everyone is happy to do that.

wont that hurt them? how do you mean putting salt in? like a pinch of cooking salt in the tank? lol sorry but im confused with salt baths etc

i think it stings a little but it did get rid of it. because i feed them live river shrimp i put a bit of aquarium salt in. about a teaspoon or so in 180 litres and i add more every few months (even with water changes i dont add more(, i did used to and almost killed fraggle from salt poisoning) it keeps the shrimps alive and prob doesnt hurt in keeping down fungus. never done a proper salt bath so not sure of the quanity.

i think what they reckon here is too put some dechlorinated water in to a container approx 1 litre and add 2 to 3 teaspoons place axie in for approx 10 mins no more than 15 as it will burn
do this 2 to 3 times a day until clear

Salt baths shouldn't be painful to an axolotl to my understanding. Most water has salt in it already. Now adding solid salt to an axolotl would be a horrible idea.

You can check out this article and read the skin mycosis section on how to treat your axolotl's fungus.

thankyou, i have read that on skin fungus. it looks now as though it has come off on its own as i touched it earlier to see if it was just a piece of un eaten food etc and it wouldnt budge, does fungus just drop off? also do i still need to treat it now it has gone?

Yes it does just drop off. But you'll have to watch and if it comes back start salt baths straight away, and continue until a few days after the fungus drops off.

Fungus usually starts your axie is stressed for some reason, could be heat related (ie fluctuating temperature, temperatures over 20c) and even water quality.

Have you tested your tankwater, what is your tank temperature, what size is your tank?

Have you tested your ta
