Hi! I'm new on this forum. I heard that the best diet for axolotl is earthworms. My axolotl don't want to eat earthworms. I've tried everything, boil them 1 sec, wash them, cut them in smaller pieces... Nothing worked. He is 4 years old now, he eats tilapia, trout and cricket, but I think this is not an appropriate diet, and I fear contamination from aquaculture. I would like to try axolotl pellets, or even do my own pellets (something I could handfeed them).

Does anynone have a brend or a recipe to suggest ? Thanks!

(sorry for my english! I'm from Québec)

Before I really realized what I was doing, I re-read your whole post with a French accent in my head. haha.

Earthworms are pretty much the best food for axolotls, but it sounds like you've tried all the usual tricks to get him to eat them. Most things that are high in protein and pretty low in fat and fiber are going to be ok. Axolotl pellets (salmon pellets) are a good staple food, and there are different place online from which you can get them.

If you do start feeding pellets, you'll need to keep a good eye on the amount you feed them and be sure to clean out extra uneaten pellets after a while. They are messier in the tank than worms, and will messy the tank and water fast if left uneaten.
