The breeder I purchased Blossom from, listed her as a lavender melanoid. But I was told she can’t be “lavender melanoid” because she has iridiphores on her tail. They’re only shiny when she’s active. And her gills turn pinkish and her body turns lavender when she’s active. Other than that, she looks melanoid.

Can someone help me to identify what Blossom’s morph really is?

Wow wow wow she is so pretty! I dont know the answer to that but Im excited to find out! :)

She looks like a melanoid to me, very very pretty though! The giveaway are the eyes, which lack that shiny ring that non-melanoids have. The "iridiophores" you're seeing on her tail might just be spots of lighter pigmentation.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
