What were they???

When I went Chester Zoo this year they had axolotl. They also had another display with a different species that were like axolotl but much larger. Does anyone know what they were as I can't remember the name and I wanted to have a read about them. Sorry it's bit vague but I bet someone off here knows.

Ambystoma andersoni or Anderson's salamander they are related to axolotls but rarer and from a different lake in Mexico.

Sometimes also called the Zacapu salamander, as they come from Lake Zacapu.

andersoni are all I can think of BUT ... Aren't they similarly sized to the axolotls?

I know Chester has a breeding facility for this species, so it was these ou saw!
