What you do to fight Mosquito??

I just have to say: Mosquitoes in the continental US have NOTHING on the mosquitoes in the boreal forest. I was woozy by the end of the day from blood loss. A combination of bug nets and Cutter barely slow 'em down. They even bit through Carhartts!
.

Yep, the bugs in the Boreal area of Canada are monsters. Thankfully Southern Ontario is about 12 hours South of the Boreal line, and is far more temperate, containing Carolinian forest areas.... just like Alabama. There aren't any black flies in this area, just regular, run of the mill mosquitos.

I agree with the OP, DEET based repellants should not be used by anyone who intends to handle amphibians.

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
