I've just bred my second lot of babies from a malanoid male and a golden albino female. the first time they bred only one axolotl made hatched and turned out to be a wildtype. In the second lot, i have a total of 60 juviniles, and they are a mix of melanoid, wildtype and also one other..... The axolotls im not sure about appear to be dark, not 100% on if they are melanoid or wildtype, but they seem to have shiny golden gills with a dark body, and a few others i have noticed have patches of gold on their dark faces. is this common??? and wouls these guys be classed as piebald or something else?? sorry cant get any pics up, but any help would be appreciated :)

How old are they now? When they are very young their color has not developed 100%. Do you have any photos? Young wild types often have patches of yellow, but as they age the brown takes over.

I think they are 5 months old now, and are around 12cm in length, they dont all look like this, just a few that ive noticed

If they are like this then yes they are unusual but not unheard of.

yeah that is pretty much what they look like, the splotch of gold is on one of the little guys mouth and around his two front armpits and little speckles on his body. one other has no splotches but just his gills are gold. I cant post a picture sorry, my cameras having a fit. What is the colouring called of the axolotl in the photo you posted? thanks :)
