Alright, so ive been reading alot about some having a shiney ring around their eyes... what does that mean? o-o like... ive got a small brown one, and 2 white ones, they all have rings around their eyes. but my big brown one dosnt have the ring =X I know its how you tell the type, but... like.. what types have them and what kinds dont and ect ect? I just dont seem to understand it when i read about them other places :O pictures may or may not help me XP

The shiny eye ring has to do with identifying the axolotls colour and genetics. Its a way of telling if they are melanoid or not.

All axolotls except those expressing the melanoid gene have the shiny ring. Melanoid axolotls do not have the ring, and instead have a completley black eye. That means your big brown axolotl is a melanoid, while your small brown one is a wild type :D. The two can look very similar sometimes, but wildtypes skin is usually spotty and grenish brown. The best ay to tell is with the eyes.

Leucistics can also have melanoid eyes, meaning they are a melanoid leucistic. Usually, they have regular eyes with a shiny ring.

Albinos can have melanoid eyes too. They are melanoid albinos. They will have a completley red/pink eye with no shiny ring.

Alright, so Freckles is a melanoid? Dot is a Wild type? and bubbles & mystery are leucistics? :3

yes, but they could be either regular leucistic or melanoid leucistic, depending on the hiny ring/lack of shiny ring in their eyes

i think they're just leucistic Because they have the rings and they're very obvious  soo i think they're just leucistic :3
