When can I feed worms?

Hello!
I am wondering when I will be able to feed my axie worms. My Axolotl is about 4.5 inches and is quite active and healthy. Right now I'm feeding frozen blood worms and I know that those aren't very nutritious for them.

When I do start feeding worms how much do I feed at a time?

Do they have a hard time switching over to worms? Or do I feed both?

You can start feeding worms as soon as they are able to swallow them. And you can chop them into pieces (if necessary) to make them small enough to swallow.

Try some worm pieces instead of the bloodworms at the regular meal time. If might take a bit of time to get used to them, but most axies take to worms quite quickly.

Avoid red wigglers (Eisenia fetida) - they have a bad taste and many axies won't eat them.

I alternate worms and pellets. That way, if I am out of worms, I have food that they are already used to eating as a backup. You can store pellets in the freezer to make them last longer.

Red wigglers do taste awful if given while alive, but my axolotl will eat them with no complaints if I blanch them first. Just drop them in really hot water real quick, rinse them in cool water, then they're good to go. They only taste bad if they're alive and able to defend themselves with the disgusting defense mucus. I've liked having red wigglers since they're so fricking easy to to take care of.
