My axolotl is 4(ish) years old and about 5 inches in length. I'm not thinking about getting another axolotl anytime soon, not until I'm out of university, but for the future : what size/ age will my axolotl be out of the cannibalistic stage and be able to live with another axolotl? I've read that over 6 inches in length is the general rule for axolotls growing out of this stage, but am not at all sure :/

The 'cannibalistic phase' is a myth - axies are cannibalistic at all ages, it's just when they are small with tiny limbs and always hungry that they are most at risk.

If your axie really is 4 years old and 5 inches I doubt whether it will grow any more. If you meant 4 months then an axie about the same size would be fine.

Ok, thank you, yes he really is 4 years and 5 inches, I got him when he was over a year old and he hasn't seemed to grow very much since! There are so many websites out there with misinformation, so thank you for clarifying
