Question: Where do axolotls come from?

I just sold a few to a local reptile shop. He told us he either imports his from Norway, or gets them from a breeder in Stoke on Trent. Both seem a little extreme to me.

I wish :)
Norway don't allow axolotls at all, they're illegal here sadly. But I wish your guy was right. *sighs*

But, it is correct that the pet shops have their 'trader' who gets his goods elsewhere. Usually from farms. Some pet shops gets their animals from private breeders, but those are few.

In Scandinavia, Imazo is one of the biggest companies to bring animals to pet shops. They have a massive farm and breed about everything. This company is located in Sweeden.

What's the reasoning behind axolotls being illegal in Norway? Is it because they are Cities listed or something else? Just curious.

Regards Neil

My lfs bought their juveniles off an axolotl owner, then a couple days later bought the parents(one male three females) so will probably be starting their own little axie breeding programme, which I'd have no problem with if the could even do basic axolotl care :(
