One pet shop i talked to said that axies can be fed smelt, also called lance fish, and i thought it might be nice to give my axie a change and for me to have a break from digging up worms

. However i have had no luck finding a pet shop or any shop for that matter that stocks them. Anyone know of a place?

Is there a reason that smelt is better than other kinds of fish? Are they salt water fish? Were you planning to use live smelt, or whole dead ones? Some alternatives might be strips of raw prawn or other fish or frozen bloodworms.

I don't know if they are fresh or salt water. I was planning on feeding cut up pices.

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
