I was just wondering where I could find an inexpensive aquarium. My little paddletail is only in a 12" long by 7" wide tank right now, but tanks bigger than that are SO expensive! I've tried ebay, but everything is either pick-up only, or has astronomical shipping prices. Any ideas? Thanks!

tanks cheap

try craigslist

Check your local classified ads, not only in the newspapers but especially in any local buy, sale, or trade publications. Often times good deals can be found. Another option is the local dump. On several occasions over the years I have found perfectly good aquariums discarded while I was unloading my recycling. Locally owned pet stores may also offer used tanks at a reduced price. Last but not least checkout Wal Mart. From what I understand the chain is eliminating most of it's live fish (a good move) so there may be excess dry goods on sale. About two months ago my local store had 2 55 gallon kits (fluorescent lights, filter, etc included) on clearance for 80.00 each. I personally did not need them (I have a shed full of tanks already) but that was a good deal.

You can also try your local thrift stores or second hand type stores - I have gotten good tanks for incredibley cheap at such facilities.
