where to find assorted live bugs in the backyard

I have a paddletail newt, and I have been feeding him woodlice for a few days now. I'm concerned he's not getting the nutrients he needs by only eating one kind of bug. Where can I find other kinds in my yard to feed to him? (By the way, my yard is pesticide-free)

You should start acclimating the newt to frozen foods as when the fall/winter set in you will have difficulty finding other insects to feed the newt.

How dry is the soil where you are finding the pill bugs?

Earthworms are the best food, in my opinion. Try a bit of digging
