I almost feel silly asking this - but where do you all get their plants (and what kinds)? Finding aquatic plants is pretty easy via fish stores, but I am putting together a semi-aquatic setup and need some terrestrial plants. Not really the best area for collecting wild plants (too dry), and places like Home Depot don't really have the right plants either (also not sure about any chemical exposure).

I've had good luck with Buce Plant for the plants I've ordered on line.
I even had a FedEx shipping issue, and Buce totally stepped up and got me a full replacement asap. Good customer service, responsive, decent prices.

Late reply here, but I've had good luck with Glass Box Tropicals and Josh's Frogs. Etsy actually has a pretty good selection if you know exactly what you are looking for.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
