Hi! I am at a loss and not sure how to help my old girl. I’m really hoping someone can brainstorm and help me. She has white stuff coming from her cloaca when she poops and now hasn’t eaten in 5 days. And no… the white stuff isn’t sperm. Attaching pictures for reference.

Background: Nessie is 12 years old and I’ve been her only owner. She has always been very active and loves coming to the front of the tank for attention. She lives in a 40 gallon breeder tank by herself and primarily eats bloodworms. Again, she’s 12 and has seemingly been very happy and active with her set up.

Issue: about 1-2 months ago we were giving her some frozen brine shrimp. She’s had this many times in the past with no issues. About 2 weeks later she started to discharge white stuff from her cloaca. I figured it might be the food so I stopped and went solely bloodworms. But the white stuff continued about once a week with her bowel movement. She was still eating and active so we let her be. Then another few weeks went by and she started to get lethargic and hiding more towards the back of the tank. She was still eating though. I tested the water and it seemed to all be normal. Then she eventually started to refuse to eat. She would perk up if I did water changes but then get mopey a day later. I moved her to a smaller tank with fresh water while I worked on her tank. However, she still acted the same even in the smaller tank with no improvement. At this point she hasn’t eaten in 5 days. I know they can go awhile… but this is not her normal.

I see so much conflicting information on what the white stuff is and I’ve found nothing on how to treat it. I’m hoping someone has seen this and knows how to help.
